I arrived around 5 AM, guided only by the cool mountain air and the glow of headlamps from other early risers. The hike from the parking area is short — about 15–20 minutes — and manageable for most fitness levels. If you’re heading up before dawn, bring a flashlight or use your phone’s torch.

As the sun broke over the horizon, the valley below slowly revealed itself — waves of mist drifting between mountain peaks, with Laos visible in the distance. It’s one of those rare moments where you stop worrying about photos and just breathe it in.

• Warm clothing: Early mornings can be surprisingly cold, especially from November to February.
